Just had a visit a 'relation of somebody who's 'mother is……...bought by a local kid who knows me.
Chai, assier & a Cleopatra later……………………..
"Here we go again, he works on the mountain, so I wait for the dismal crap story, all the while in many plastic bags containing either genuine or repro's the con is the same, it's just the price that varies.
Now I'm on my 3rd Miester of the day.
Finally he produces his objets d'art, piece by slowly piece, till he brings out the best a beautiful broken sculpture of Min.
I 'licked all 5 pieces ( it confuses & indicates ) discarded 3 and said, 'my pal might be interested he's a sculptor, as like you, I have no money.
"How much you pay ?
"Nothing, I have no money like you" "Wait till Xmas, my friend he comes, he has money"……………..
I get bored and say "I want to take a picture of these two, one a coptic looking piece of head stone the other Min. He freaks as they always do, So I told him the story of 'the farmer and the meteorite, "You no show, Me no buy..some people are just born stupid'.
In all honesty I prefer the artisan at recreating the ancient, it represents as much skill as the original artist, if not more.
Anyhow! he returns, he say's at Xmas, to meet my expert sculptor hoping for a sale, which is highly unlikely….
Ps: this is not an unusual occurrence…..
