Interim President Adly Mansour said he will contact the Foreign Ministry to circumvent any obstacles faced by donations from Egyptians abroad, so that any clothes they send for the cold and needy would be exempted from customs.

Presenter Amr Adib made an on-air appeal to the president to help with the customs requirements and exempt those related to the “Egypt is Warm” campaign.

“I wouldn’t be content if a person in Egypt feels cold,” Mansour told the talk show Cairo Today on Monday.

Adib then expressed his gratitude to the President saying, “You are a president for all Egyptians.”

Adib announced the start of a million-blanket campaign for “Egypt is Warm,” noting that by Saturday and Sunday, there were LE7 million of donations in the Orman Charity Organization's account.

Press reports over the past few days have mentioned the deaths of several citizens nationwide due to cold weather and related issues.

It would help if the could manage the electricity supply capacity better. Cuts under high demand in the Summer are one thing but rolling 1 hour cuts in the evenings in Winter!

I know how you feel, I'm in the middle of one now, last night it was one hour, same last week. Wonder what the excuse will be. Takes all afternoon to get it nice and cosy, three minutes to reduce it to nigh on freezing. :vc:

Maybe one of the reasons is that people have their air-conditioning on in winter too, but pumping out heat! My neighbour's unit is on from morning to night!
