In a visual treat taking in Egypt's greatest historical sites, Alastair Sooke tells the story of Ancient Egyptian art through 30 extraordinary masterpieces. Tracing the origins of Egypt's unique visual style, he treks across the Sahara and travels the Nile to find the rarely-seen art of its earliest peoples....This is the first of 3 programmes, the 2nd, which featured Luxor, was on last night. Stan and I actually saw Alistair filming in the fields close to the Ramessium and walk up to the Rest to get into his taxi.

I saw most of last nights programme and found it interesting - bearing in mind I really don't know who's who and what's what when it comes to Egypt (or much else come to that!). I was particularly taken by the glass fish - such a skill to create something so beautiful today never mind in pharonic times! I also appreciated his comments about Tutankhamoun in his tomb and also the treasures found.
