A very interesting and enjoyable Book Club at the hotel last night with the theme "Exotic Places". Readings included extracts from Mark Shand's "Travels on my Elephant", "To the Moon and Timbuktu" by Nina Sovich, "American Notes" by Charles Dickens, "The Drunken Forest" by Gerald Durrell. 2 poems including an alternative version of "When I am Old....... " for a certain lady who is living her dream being horsemad in Egypt, and to finish "Albert and the Lion" to recall a childhood first ever holiday in exotic Blackpool which led on to a long discussion of long ago childhood memories. Sarannah also shared personal memories of her intrepid Grandmothers trip in the 1950's as a lone traveller who had never travelled outside Europe before to the jungles of South America, where her daughter was due to give birth in the middle of the jungle.
