So why is she using your wifi? Her dongle should be connecting via her mobile phone package.Wills wrote:T-MobileBrian Yare wrote:What kind of a dongle?Wills wrote:Friends laptop who uses a dongle has problems getting onto the internet, her laptop is saying she is connected and she has entered my password from my wifi but is not working, any suggestions?
Bullet Magnet wrote:Go into the Options / settings of Internet Explorer off the menu, if there is no menu at the top, then press the ALT key, and a menu will appear.
Under the connections tab, and network, select automatically detect network settings when your friend is connected to the WIFI.
Also make sure the DONGLE is unplugged, as Internet explorer will try to connect via the Dongle.
Close Internet Explorer and re open it, and the home page should open..

Sorry BM don't know what you mean by options /settings off Internet explorer where do I find this?

So, there should be a menu bar at the top of Internet explorer, just below the address bar, if not, then hit the "ALT" key, and it will appear.
Select the "tools" category, then "internet Options", then from the open Window, hit the "connections" tab.
Then click on the "LAN Settings" button at the bottom and ensure the "Automatically detect settings" check box is ticked, and hit OK, and then "ok" again on the previous window.
Now restart Internet Explorer without the Dongle inserted, and you should be good to go..
