Egypt's foreign minister states in an interview given in US that the accused in the recent Minya trial were not sentenced to death, The judge simply referred the possibility of a death sentence to the Grand Mufti. This may be splitting hairs ( I understand that the judge is not bound by the Grand Mufti's opinion) but I wonder why the press & media have prejudged the outcome....resulting in widespread condemnation. Even Al Ahram (which you'd think would know what the judge actually said) reported that the accused were sentenced to death.
Semantics...or something else?
It's the way you say it...
