Queens Valley Hotel
Went to the Egyptian souk bought lots of things and thought I will cut through the souk and catch the Arabia, unfortunately I forgot about the Avenue of the Sphynx and couldn't cross so had to walk along way with all my shopping, passing the Queens Valley hotel thought I would call in for a cup of tea. Greeted very nicely by the man who went off to make my tea, then asked someone else where the loo was, I was asked if I was staying there . No I replied, then you are not allowed to use the toilets. Snotty little tow rag, I then picked up my bags called to the man who was making my tea , thanked him but said I was leaving. 2nd man all apologies now, oh thought you had just come in to use the toilets. No I replied I had come in to book two double rooms for my friends who arrive next week but no matter I will go round the corner to the Emilio. No no Madam please come back.
Smiled nicely and walked out.

Re: Queens Valley Hotel
I've only been in there once. That was enough for me.
Many years ago I was taken by an Egyptian friend where we due to meet up with a couple of ladies visiting Luxor for the first time who where feeling a bit out of their depth and were looking at picking up some tips and sharing some trips etc. We met, talked over a few soft drinks - and bottles of water that were not asked for but opened as soon as they were delivered to the table - and then they left. My friend, being the gentleman, was expecting to pay the bill but when it came it was silly money. The 'hostess' (I'm tempted to say tart) then spoke to him in Arabic, having managed English earlier. He went mad and didn't care who heard him shout at her. It seems she'd told him not to worry - the English women would pay it for him and she'd give him a cut. He then told me to pick up my bag we were leaving at which point he threw some coins at the woman's feet and we left.

Re: Queens Valley Hotel
This place is very well known as perhaps the best ( most under-estimated) knocking shop in the whole of Luxor, no wonder they did not want you using the toilet, they probably thought your were taking the **** Carrie.
A couple of my old mates use that place, they even have easy access for those old boys who have difficulty walking, which was almost music to the very ears of one of my old mates, who quite honestly never leaves that hotel for the whole duration of his stay in Luxor, but then again, you never need to, if you are like him.
I dare say, it's almost as famous or infamous, which ever you choose as the old Cinderella Hotel in another fare town in Egypt.

Really! last time I was in Hurgada, and I am presuming that you mean Hurgada, I called in there for a coffee the owner/manager was very nice and offered me a good rate if ever I returned to stay. Sod pots booked somewhere else now, missed my chance. Just my luck.

Re: Queens Valley Hotel
Always harped on about the lack of public facilities in Luxor, and why people have to use hotel toilets, proves a point on this - Hotels do not like you using their loo's.
Goodness know how a tourist would have felt in this situation, but a good story for Trip Advisor.....

It is really no different to the the many places in the UK and other tourist towns/cities around the world then.Chocolate Eclair wrote:Always harped on about the lack of public facilities in Luxor, and why people have to use hotel toilets, proves a point on this - Hotels do not like you using their loo's.

Re: Queens Valley Hotel
The City I lived I can think of at least 4 public toilets within a 300 yard walk, including disabled facilities. I think they were going to install "Pop Up" loo's for the P---heads

Re: Queens Valley Hotel
The Mosques, Churches restaurants and Coffee shops all have toilets just because may not be able or want to use them doesn't mean there is a lack of conveniences around.
There are toilets in the souk along the corniche and in the railway station.

Just don't want you to end up in the wrong place!
A man has sued British Airways yesterday for flying him to Grenada in the Caribbean instead of Granada in Spain. The fact the flight operated via St Lucia might have been a giveaway.

I stopped here once...just the once and never again!
Shame it has such potential, but the entire place/service/staff is crap!

Well Lisak, that says it all. You can't get plainer than that.
