Ah Donovan, he used to live in the next village to mine when we lived on Skye, a place called Stein, which boasts the oldest pub on the Island, after getting his old Manse renovated and updated he promptly burned it down on one mind blowing hazy night. Now it has been once again restored..

Nothing wrong with Gypo's either, clever people once you get to know them.
I had a mate who always got away with civil matters in court, all he had to do, was turn up to court, hand the old crumbly justices a quickly written letter, and they dismissed the case on the spot..

Nothing at all, they used to prefer us attending to their various wounds rather than face the General Hospital, I even attended a siege by one with a broken leg and a shotgun surrounded by armed old bill, they quite liked my partner as he was of country stock....

So the English cant distinguish between the 2 accent's... :cg
I guess his stint with Gypsy Dave in the early years gave the impression of him being a Gypsy.
Bit like David Essex, East end boy through and through, though his mother came from a family of traveller's.
