The B.B.C. Will next Sunday broadcast a one hour special called Tutankhamoun - The Truth Uncovered, which will be shown on B.B.C. 1 at 9 p.m. (Except Wales where it can be seen on B.B.C. 2 at the same time).
The program was made for the B.B.C. in association with Red Arrow international, therefore should soon be shown on the Smithsonian Channel in the U.S.A., and the Discovery (Canada) Channel very soon.
Having seen a pre-view of the program at the B.M., this evening I can say it was well made, and should certainly 'set in stone' the parenthood of the short lived boy king.
I also learn this evening, that the B.B.C., are again in discussion with the Egyptian authorities to make a one hour program in Luxor, as part of a six part series under a working title of Great Walks Through the Ancient World, another program is in the area of Bann in Iran. For anyone who watched the Simpson's World programs on B.B.C. WORLD, about 15 years, will know what I mean. A front man will interview various archaeologist as they walk, in Luxor's case, over the hills of the WB.
P.S. - I hear that the front man that has been 'pencilled in' works out of Eaton College, those in the know, will know who I mean.

Well, if the program is truthful, then many may be in for a bit of a surprise...
I wait with baited breath...

Thank You A-Four, It is very rare for me to sit down in front of a TV, or even make plans to do so..
I have said in the past, that Luxor will enjoy a resurgence in the numbers of visitors.
Let us hope that this BBC presentation will eventually be the catalyst for that resurgence.
Please note that in the past I did not say a resurgence in Tourist numbers.

Keep in mind that I mentioned earlier on this forum that I only knew him as a child and left shortly after his corporation(when Akhenaten was alive).
All I know is who he was, the fact that he didn't want to be king, and his parents.
He was 6 years old and I was 1 and a 1/2. There was not much time there for us to get to know each other.
The rest is speculation im just as curious as you are. Keep in mind I stated that I was in Mitanni the whole time so I don't know what happened to Tutankhamun.
But its my assumption that he may have been killed some where distant where no one was looking and I guarantee outside of Thebes.
Judging from my knowledge of Tutankhamun not want ing to be pharaoh I could honestly say that he may not have been too keen to be Pharaoh, he just wanted to have freedom just like I did and the other minor royals.
Yes he was the designated heir but he had no say so of doing what he wanted, well not exactly. Poor kid

You seem to be on the ball today Brian, though as I understand it, a fee has not been agreed yet, so,........you might think that, though I could not possibly comment.
You might remember some time ago on here, I said that the rip-off rates charged by the Egyptian authorities, caused the B.B.C.. To be a little ****** off, and there certainly was not 'trebles all round in their bar on the night', though it was a money spinner in the end. I heard the comment then that made it clear that it would be a long time before they return.
Hopefully, things have changed, though I have no idea.

All I can tell you Frater, is that through my own careful study, this young man must have had a foot deformity throughout most of his life, being that I was in the Egyptian Museum some years ago now, when they were packing away most of the, shall we say, less important items of this person. I was able to look carefully at some of the many canes and sticks he used, i was even able to handle one.
It was evident from the less ceremonial sticks, that there hand been a great deal of wear.

Tutankhamoun - The Truth Uncovered ? ........the "TRUTH" ?? Sweet Jesus....spare us from another splurge of speculative reconstruction based on scraps of verifiable evidence

Is there to be no end to this show?
I doubt this version of "The Truth" will be any closer to what really happened than its many predecessors.

All you speculators out there in Luxor should bulk buy all the paint if the BBC are coming to town, you can sell it back to the local council at cut throat prices!

Must admit, I only saw a few clips Newcastle, but the little I did see was quite interesting, though I have to say any new good publicity for Luxor, can only help future tourism, and it was after all, jfilmed in HD.
