Promoting tourism to Egypt? The Telegraph Tours supplement today advertises the following tour: http://travelshop.telegraph.co.uk/colle ... a/overview
£2990 per person for 11 days (10 nights). £1495 single supplement.
O.K., there is a special opening of Nefertari's tomb and Abu Simbel is included, but nothing else looks special.
Who is this going to attract, and how much are they going to contribute to the local economy?

According to GD, this is exactly the type of tourist that will lift Egypt from the doldrums.Brian Yare wrote:Promoting tourism to Egypt? The Telegraph Tours supplement today advertises the following tour: http://travelshop.telegraph.co.uk/colle ... a/overview

Re: Daily Telegraph
What really grabbed my attention was the size of the Single Supplement. That was beyond all credibility!

Re: Daily Telegraph
Yes tour operators are good at ripping off the lone traveler with their single supplements.
I have had to pay through the nose at times because I wanted to do that particular tour. The supplement is just pure profit for these operators.

Re: Daily Telegraph
Maybe the "experts" are taking a big chunk:

Sattin's book was crap, so much so that one of the Egyptologists at AUC didn't think they should acquire the rights to publish it in Egypt, but someone at the Press must have had the final say on that one.

Re: Daily Telegraph
Same here. Sick and tired of seeing what looks like a sensible price holiday for what it offers only for the price to virtually double once I click the 'single' button.Kaiserbernese wrote:Single supplements are why I travel independently!!!
