I love Nick and I admire his considerable and many talents, but I wish there was an unlike button.
This beautifully executed work I find repugnant.
Crucifixion is an almost unthinkable torture to death which is still taking place.
I'm not a Christian, but I respect the importance of the crucifixion of Jesus to those who are.
Pete Doherty is mostly famous for his depraved lifestyle and lack of respect for himself and others, so to equate Jesus and those suffering so terribly now with him makes me feel sick.

We are all born on the cross...
The trick is to recognise that, and then do something about it..
Mum's the word though...

I agree MD.Very good post.
At this point in time Christians are also observing Lent.A period of fast and abstinence, the lead up to Christ's crucifixion and glorious resurrection.
We certainly don't need gruesome reminders of it..artfully executed or not!
I too find it quite repugnant.

P.s. what's he gonna do next?
Some "artful"exhibit of a jihadist mutilating and beheading a Christian?
No,I don't think so..cos that would be deemed "offensive!"
Please leave religion out of your "art" Nick.
It's VERY offensive.

What he needs to do next is have a bath, tidy himself up, buy some Clearasil for all his spots and learn to string a sentence together. I have no idea if he has any talent, or whether being a druggie, and sleeping with a high profile model is his only claim to fame, but I cant look at him without thinking he needs a good scrub
Even as an atheist, I find his depiction of the crucifiction rather despicable.

All these comments are highly valid he always looks washed out and wasted,
but……. before celebrity came knocking on his door he was a great barman in Filthy McNasty's, and as pointed out he did sha** 'sniffy Moss, purely because they like the same marching powders and 'she thought he was on the up…
Anyhow whatever you think, his music is sh** he dress sense is hardly getting there and for his drug habit who knows!
Oh' How it's so easy to quickly criticise let's all hope the boy can lead a clean and happy life now he's just returned from rehab in Thailand!……... of all places..
As for the Sculptor ? He's a 'well-lost cause trust me, I gave up on him years ago.
"He's been to war 'he's looked death in the face 'he's got medals and stuff and he fought for this country" So there…
Now! that's what he would be expletive about very loud, clear and drunk!
"It's tough being talented….

"I said "if your wanna get a'head get a
hat!"

I still hold my opinion - Nick is wonderful, his artistic abilities are wonderful, but this particular subject makes me

He has crossed a barrier Who2!
Just exactly what was he trying to prove?
And what were your reasons for thinking that this is a suitable image to share on forum?
It's repulsive,repugnant and despicable!
There was a recent massacre in Paris of journalists who "portrayed"the prophet Mohammed (PBUH),yet your friend portrays Christianity in a most vicious way.For what?Art?
It ain't artistic.It's offensive,unfunny,and quite frankly,disrespectful and inflammatory!
The only image Christians respect, with regard to crucifixion..is that of Jesus on the cross.
Not a bloody ******,hanging about wearing "Pampers"and getting photographed!

Well I thought flying to Texas retrieving a still warm body of a recently lethally injected man on death row, then casting a death mask and arm cast of said victim, I felt was pretty extreme but he can justify it and the guy's wife seemed more than pleased, what can I say ? … art ? fart !….

It wasn't only Jesus they crucified you know, welsh separatists, samaritans even the odd thief just because a few authors contributed to a book about it doesn't make it sanctified, as anymore than the readers digest.
Ps: 'What do you call a fatwah in gaelic ?
Pss: "And in a Christian Church what could the vicar be thinking ?

But he ain't portraying anyone else Who2!
These dickheads are portraying Jesus on the cross!
That's what makes it so offensive to Christians!

Salvador Dali, Christ of Saint John of the Cross was I initially thought when I saw that.
I once had to reproduce that in pencil on cartridge paper for one of my Mother's friends.
I guess its easy to critisise the Subject matter, and even take offence.
But It would not do any harm to contemplate the positioning of the cross, the fact it is black and Pete is white, oh and maybe it's location.
A Picture paints a thousand words, and so do sculptures.
Its down to how you interpret it, like the contents of a book, or the words in a song.

And who knows it might just cause a shift in the minds amongst the 'youff of Britain to actually wonder about the crucifixion of said Jesus of Nazareth and of course in-tern the book called the Bible, which of course the catholic church and the First Council of Nicaea decided to 'highly edit in favour of men and their own dogmatic views.
And lets face it Christianity certainly needs a boost in the arm in the UK…..

St Marylebone’s canon, Stephen Evans, said: “I hope that For Pete’s Sake might help visitors to the exhibition stop and reflect not only on Christ’s Passion and Resurrection but also to stop and reflect on what in their own lives leads to death or to life.”
See even the church agrees with me now, be honest 'religion has been a business since that taxman joined JC's happy gang…

Ps And just how many religious pieces of crap does the catholic church wave about to ring their tills ?
Oh! and saints, don't me started on that one, cure a headache and your beautified the next week..
