Compare ?

Post by Who2 »

Now my mate Alan Parker 'overweight punk film-maker runs a thing called 'battle of the bands' on FB.
So here is 'battle of the films' obviously one has to watch the films first, 'goddit ?

The Cobbler vs The Theory of Everything..
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3203616/?ref_=nv_sr_1
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2980516/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

One is a film about a Cobbler, the other about a guy in a wheelchair who sounds remarkably like my computer and thinks he knows everything, except jogging!
You choose and compare, but first you must have watched the film's the winner will recieve a genuine 2nd WW2 Jaeger-Le Coultre Reverso Wrist Watch…..
Ps: This after watching just 20 minutes of The Cobbler.

Would you be prepared to sit next to your '...mate Alan Parker 'overweight punk film-maker... on an overcrowded, economy class, flight?

I like quite a lot of his films..
Midnight Express being my favourite of all.. :up ( put me off visiting Turkey for a number of years )
Anyhow, Turkey and I have been united. Nice place and all that, I walked part of the Lyciam way, I could see myself settling down there... :cg

Anyhow, I must not distract from Hepzibah's question...

Which begs the question ... how do you tell the difference?

Hawkins is grossly overrated, I think its a Political Correctness thing.

Mind You, Einstein was not such a genius either.. People think he is, but remember he did work in a patent office before he became famous... ;)

Now to find the correct ( lesser known ) Alan Parker.

Although the Who, AC/DC and Quo never really did it for me.

If you're going to rubbish two of the greatest scientific minds of the 20th century (on the basis of...... what you know??) at least take the trouble to spell their names correctly :|

Einstein as Hawkins both reversed their views, The universe is expanding then it's contracting, but hold on it's doing both.
Einsteins ability he states was to be able to think on about a single subject for more than 4 minutes.
But have either benefited mankind by their abilities ?….

Einstein & Hawking (sic) are/were both brilliant scientists who made fundamental breakthroughs in our understanding of time and space and the cosmos.

I'm not sure of the 'reversal' of views to which you refer but it's central to the scientific approach to anything that you can, and do, change your mind in the light of evidence etc. The complete opposite to the mumbo jumbo of religionists or other inhabitants of fairyland.

If understanding where the universe came from & how it operates is a benefit, then they have achieved a great deal.

Of course there are always those who prefer to live in blissful ignorance or who deride scientists simply because they haven't the intellect or education to understand what the scientist might be telling them....nor any interest in finding out.

How does an alleged understanding of the universe benefit mankind though ?

How about the problems down here, the REAL problems, like poverty and hunger ?

How did Messers Einstein and Hawking address those ?

Time and Space ? You cannot have one without the other, any fool knows that if they think about it, and space is not an empty void, despite what our eyes see.

E=Mc2 Oh how very helpful to the hungry people of this world. Worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize.. ? Nobel who evolved gunpowder to its capacity to kill.
Hawkings no God theory ? One can see a higher intelligence at work if you know how to look.

The final debunking of this "higher intelligence" crap would be the ultimate achievement for science and the future of mankind! I expect the final answer to the origin of the universe to come within this century.

No need for gods, religion.....and an end to the misery they've inflicted over the centuries, and continue to do to this day in the Third World.

After 3 years of studying cosmology at Cambridge I still have but the barest grasp of space-time. I compliment you on your erudition in this field.

By the way you missed mentioning that Einstein's realisation of the interchangeability of mass & energy led directly to the atomic bomb

Any fool? You need look no further than the mirror.

Atomic Bomb ! now that would solve the hunger problem in Africa in a nano second..

once again, you have failed to inform me of the uses of Einstein and Hawking to mankind.

Just a distraction for so called intellectuals standing around stroking beards talking rhetoric and achieving nothing other than patting each other on the back.... :tk

I thought I had.

You just don't want to hear.

Again - ( Einstein) the understanding of the relation between space & time, between mass & energy, underlies many of the advances of physics in the 20th century. (e.g. the fact that GPS systems work at all is dependent on the realisation of the interaction between gravity & time)

(Hawking) The ultimate explanation of the origin of the cosmos will, one hopes, deal a mortal blow to religious clap trap that has held back humanity for eons.

It would also render those living in a world of their own imagination even more irrelevant than they already are.

Well, that's the people with money covered, the sat nav to help them get to work on time or get lost down some Welsh B road..

As for religious clap trap, i figured that one out on my own, at about 8 years old..

As for embarrassing, well I am not in the least embarrassed... You may be, but then maybe you dont fully understand, and for that I am truly sorry..

Einstein did have some really great quotes though... :up which may help a few..

Blind belief in authority is the greatest enemy of truth.

A problem cannot be solved from within the same state of mind in which it was created.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.

finally, bearing in mind Einstein worked in a patent office during one of the most innovative times in Eastern Europe:

Creativity is knowing how to hide your sources...

The Answer to all our problem's lies within all of us working together as one, and loosing the "mind Control" and dropping the inane chattering.

SOON, what we think we know will have to be unlearned, and then we will have to learn all over again...

There....I knew you were really an admirer of Einstein.

It's not science that's bad....it's the things we stupid stupid humans do with it.

Forget the satnav.....it was the first thing that came to mind about the importance of the effect gravity has on time!

We need to tap the virtually unlimited energy available around us in the form of matter....and not by burning hydrocarbons and f*cking up the planet.

Einstein set us on the path to understanding how this might be done

Tesla actually did it though Newcastle. Wireless electricity. Not only that, but he knew how to generate the electricity for free !
Tesla had the forces of evil to deal with though.

Imagine the possibilities and how easy our life could be ? I have a vision that could work, utilising free energy AND GPS, we would then all finally be free.
Government, religion and money all gone form the face of this earth.. The individual being the resource. Cant be long now, can it ?
