Marriage proposal!
Ok,I've been visiting Luxor for a great many years now!
About 5 years go I met someone I really liked. We've kept in touch. This time he's been foning, talking about renting flat,"making"papers, etc!
I've booked holiday with sister, really ain't got finances to rent flat too!And have told him this!
He's interested in my home!Scotland!
My big garden intrigues him!The machine I use for cutting grass will be challenge for him.I got enough to sponsor him for visit to Scotland.Think he's fed up with Egypt.
Does he love me?I really don't know!He ain't that much younger that we look like "odd"couple!
So what do I do?
Do I take a chance?
Or do I keep my hand firmly on my purse, salary, home and pension..and remain lonely for rest of my life?
Please advise! How can you tell the chancers from the good guys?
Thought I had it sussed out...but sometimes you can just get caught out!
What does anyone advise? What do I do?

Re: Marriage proposal!
Though your marriage to Z was back on until I read your post.
The only thing I would trust coming from Egypt is a BA or easyjet flight.

He can go home and eat with his wife afterwards, so you only have to sponsor the flat.
If you take the chance, please keep your hand firmly on your purse, salary, home and pension - then you'll know if he loves you.Scottishtourist wrote: Does he love me?I really don't know!

Re: Marriage proposal!
Think ST was thinking of a hotel for her and her sister plus renting the flat hence the finance problem. Otherwise completely agree.

Re: Marriage proposal!
Yes, that or a hotel for Scottishtourist and her sister plus sponsoring a trip to Scotland, that is how I understand it, but perhaps there would be time to save up for the treat.Bearded Brian wrote:Think ST was thinking of a hotel for her and her sister plus renting the flat hence the finance problem. Scottishtourist, you have told us that you are hot and attractive, so surely remaining lonely for the rest of your life or sponsoring an Egyptian man are not the only options.

I'll tell you when I find a non chancer who is available.

C'mon ST surely you jest?
You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.

Re: Marriage proposal!
Whether you are pulling our leg or not, a keeper does not talk about renting the flat and making papers. A good one talks about the future you will have together. Talking about the flat and papers and visas before your life is like being obsessed with planning the wedding more than the marriage that comes after.
And 5 years to propose? Don't take it personally, but sounds like the well has dried up somewhere else and he needs to dig a new one. A serous man takes action long before that.
And if you have lost your mind and think that taking a "chance" is OK, then God help you. If you don't trust him enough that you consider this a game of "chance" then it will end in tears.

Re: Marriage proposal!
I thought the sponsor now has to pay or guarantee a sum (to help with the cost of returning said friend after overstaying)? just add that cost on to your list ST
also he cannot work. Just think as you hit your night shifts, going out into the cold wet night, think of hubby feet up on your settee, zapper to hand, his dinner on his lap, toasting his feet in front of your fire (central heating also blasting), waving you out
It is what it is.

Re: Marriage proposal!
You usually come across as an intelligent woman ST, so if this is a serious post you of all people should not feel the need to ask for advice as this forum is full fit to bursting with tales of woe is me folk. Advise that is regularly given, but totally ignored by the requester. In matters of love, you need a balanced diet of advice from your own heart and head, not the mouths of folk that think they have the answers to one of the most difficult personal decisions in another individuals life.
If it s a belated April fools post, then at least some of the ringworm advice should be entertaining.
