48% of Egyptian women are obese - 9th highest rate in the world.

They were only discussing this supposedly tasty morsel on the news the other day, it was in Asia someplace, 75% of the population gorged themselves on this affordable morsel, creating one of the highest percentages of obesity in the country plus a very high rate of diabetes resulting in many cases of limb removal due to complications.

Mmm! Methinks the so-called 'mutton flaps' are being used as an excuse for gluttony! Breast of lamb to us in the UK, and boned, rolled and sometimes stuffed are a delicious meal. In my household it is eaten fairly regularly - and I weigh around six and a half stone! Don't believe everything you read in the news!

The area this report came from showed many roadside stalls selling this meat. There was literally mountains of the stuff. In the UK my mother would make lamb lobbies with these flaps of meat. It was and absolutely delicious dish. Also her pea and ham soup was to die for. Both these were very fatty dishes in content, but after many years of consumption, neither seems to have affected me. I would suspect that it's not actually the cut of meat that is the major problem when it comes to the mutton flaps so much as the cooking method. I didn't see in that article any mention of how the Tongans cook the meat but I'm guessing that it is often deep fried or cooked in some other extra fat way. Most cheap cuts of meat can be quite nutritious if cooked appropriately, and eaten in reasonable portion sizes and within a normal fairly balanced diet.

Goodness gracious the term Mutton Flaps seems to be describing Gemma Collin's designer operation she had. How awful.
