James Bond.

Almost every week here there is a "James Bond"film on some TV channel or another.Tonight it's "Moonraker."
I was never really a great fan of these films..always considered them to be a "man's"movie. All that shooting, banging, explosives, gadgets, etc.
But..the one I really did like was "Live and let Die."I enjoyed the theme song(Paul McCartney/Wings)and also thought that Roger Moore played the part of the suave spy with a certain panache. He was my favourite "Bond"
So who's yours? What was your favourite "Bond"film..and who was your favourite actor in the part?
I just kinda liked the whole voodoo theme of "Live and let Die."Have never much understood sci-fi or espionage plots.
And..if Daniel Craig refuses to reprise the role of James Bond..who do you think would be a good enough actor to play the part?

Jason Hughes
I do agree with you ST, Live and Let Die was also my favourite of the Bond films, great characters and a brilliant song.
When they look for a new Bond they try these days to seek a less known actor than the earlier days, such a person I would recommend, a quite raw actor called Jason Hughes.

The JB films have gone off a bit in the last few years, story lines becoming weak etc. Have to agree though I did like Roger has JB he portrayed the suave JB and had the stagger, and of course the zip magnet...
I did like "Live and let Die" though, the theme music I preferred to listen to played by Escala.
I do't have a clue who could be the next JB actor, but maybe Norris Cole, he's good at gathering information, Maybe Steve McDonald he has the looks...

I have enjoyed all the Bond films bar two, the last one and the one that the pathetic actor George Lazenby, embarrassing to behold. I think that the ideal candidate for a new Bond would be the excellent British actor Jason Statham. A real action man to let loose on the bad guys.

According to Hollywood Life, Leonardo DiCaprio has been approached for the role and is "seriously considering it".
Ye Gods !
My favourite was Pierce Brosnan.....the right mix of camp and believability.
P.S. Did anyone notice that the last movie, SPECTRE, focusing on the evil terror organisation, is an anagram of another dubious outfit.......RESPECT....the party of gorgeous George Galloway:lol:

Sean Connery is James Bond.
Goldfinger and Diamonds are Forever my favorites.
My least favorite Bond is Roger Moore excluding Live and Let Die & Man with the Golden Gun which were ok.
The newer Bonds and films are competing with the likes of the Bourne films and doing a very good job too SKYFALL especially.
OHMSS was very good and would have been better with Connery.
I think the quality of the Bond films have deepened as much on the Director as the person playing Bond.
Nice man Director John Glen but my least favorite Bond films but it could be they all have Roger Moore as Bond.

I don't particularly like the James Bond movies and wouldn't pay good money to go see one. I have seen the odd one when staying with friends which confirmed they really are not my thing. If however I was to nominate an actor to be James Bond, I would consider the actor (who's name has now escaped me) who plays the night manager in the BBC series of that name.
If you like spy/espionage drama's then The Nigbt Manager is worth watching. Don't be fooled by the scenes purpoting to be Egypt though. They are so Moroccan that it shows someone didn't do their homework properly.

You mean Tom Hiddleston. A possibility - quoted somewhere at 20/1.
Whoever is picked I hope they make a better movie than the ladt one. Very disappointing.

If the new movie has Bond's dad in it, you could try for that

When I was a commie in The Stafford, Sir Sean and his then missis Diana Cilento used to be regular diners, he wore a toupee even then and that was 1966. Always and the only James Bond for me....

Ps: Often at another table on the same night would be John Steed & Honor Blackman...
