Shocking moment crowd of people are engulfed in flames after crashed fuel tanker erupts in a fireball as they try to steal fuel from it in Alexandria, Egypt.

Several people have been injured when a crashed fuel tanker turned an Egyptian street into a sea of flames.

The tanker had flipped over on its side for an unknown reason, and had started leaking gasoline from its roof.

A number of opportunistic men brought buckets and containers to cash in on the accident, a broad daylight thievery they were soon made to regret

A video from the incident shows several people running up to the overturned fuel tanker, trying to collect as much gasoline as they can carry.

Another recording, filmed from a nearby house overlooking the scene, shows the small crowd growing as word spreads of the fuel free-for-all.

Moments later, the fuel and fumes ignite, with both gasoline thieves and onlookers engulfed in flames.

Within seconds, the entire street is on fire, with flames and thick dark smoke rising high into the sky as the leaked gasoline burns.

Accidents happen, but so much of what followed with this one could have been minimised if not actually avoided. :(

I attended that balloon gas bottle explosion back in Gurna within 10 minutes,
sightseers were turning up in taxis & minibus's by their hundreds', whilst every few minutes another gas canister would shoot 100ft in the air.
Me, being the only 'white boy there, but a known face all was cool,
At 6am in the morning is was quite spectacular, totally mental, with the firemen standing on the compound walls spraying water over constantly exploding canisters
that were regularly exploding and shooting high up in the sky, with 100's of 'Oohs! and Aahs! erupting from the ever increasing audience.
No control on or over anything in any shape or form, people everywhere filming with their iPhones.
'Only 3 dead inshala.....

Yesterday it was the Henna party for a young girl near me, all the women there preparing meals for the evening, the rubber tube from the gas bottle either split or came off, since there were about three cookers being used at the time lucky that no one was killed just one person with a burnt arm.
Health and Safety doesn't exist here.

I suppose in retrospect, its not a wise thing to light up a cig while you wait your turn in the Queue with the empty gasoline can. Only fools and thieves rush in. :td
