Apart from myself and MT(who is a self professed lover of "soaps")does anyone ever watch inane TV programmes just for the sheer humour and enjoyment?
This programme "Gogglebox"consists of people's reactions to television programmes throughout the week and is very entertaining.

What kinda programmes do you like?Do you just see television as a source of education..and watch nothing but factual documentaries?
Or do you see it as a source of entertainment and watch comedies, soaps, etc?

I particularly like comedy.I also enjoy all these medical documentaries with scenes of graphic surgery.Botched-up Bodies,24 hours in A&E,Embarrassing illnesses, etc.

So what do you view?
Do you switch telly off if it ain't an educational programme?Or can you enjoy the factual as well as the inane?

I pretty much give anything a chance these days that doesn't have intrusive music.

Easy answer for me.

I only watch BBC World when I'm in Egypt.

In UK....documentaries, historical drama series, classic comedy....no soaps or movies or 'reality' TV.

Loath anything to do with dancing, talent or cookery.

I don't do TV in Egypt, but when here I'm an avid TV groupie.
Her indoors introduced me to gogglebox, best thing on TV here, but that's it now back to Egypt and real films in the cinema...8)

Last week, I turned on the TV in my cabin on a boat to watch the news and later zapped into a documentary on Balcan Roma life. I had just celebrated International Roma Day, focusing on the culture with seminars of non stereotyped community dances and music straight from the source, so it was perfect timing.

I realised that this was the only TV that I have watched in years. During the first weeks of the uprise in Cairo, when we were cut off the internet, I was glued to the TV for updates and it has been turned off ever since. I guess that I had an overdose.

- And I am blamed for not living in the real world. :a11:

I watch only "non-fiction". Documentaries, news, a little sport, very little else. Most of the time I use it as background noise or wallpaper while doing something else. No time for soaps, "talent" shows, celebrity, etc.
