More disturbing news.

I've just been informed that another person has been deported, a well known expat that has their own blog site about Luxor. I viewed this person as a very quite and respectful person, so can not understand why, when reentering the country he was arrested and kicked out for good. I was told that he had been visiting family so do not know if it was by ''the number'' or a pre arranged visit. I'm told that he was gay, perhaps this is all it takes nowadays. Another major upset for some.

Seems there is a definite difference in how we might know the next door neighbor vs what Government has on their computer screens.

Do we really every know anybody?

A foreigner with a blog on Luxor life? Mmmmmm.....

Unless you stick firmly to pretty pictures and good news, and avoid anything controversial, you're fair game.

And if you post anything deemed detrimental to the powers that be....you're OUT, DO NOT PASS GO.....do not collect anything (apart from the luggage you arrived with)

Is the thinking among Expats there that the Powers that Be are actively monitoring? As in do they have an active plan to eliminate ALL Expats so are going out of their way to look for excuses?

The powers that be have always monitored and any one who thinks differently is a fool.

I suppose with all the visa uncertainty I'm guessing everybody is feeling the pressure more now and, in a way, this is eroding the complete quality of life as it must always be niggling that you could be next.

Probably the best way to proceed is carry on as always but ? (always hate the but)

They don't need to give an excuse when denying entry.

The only reason you're likely to be given is "security".

Keep your nose clean, don't make derogatory remarks related to Egypt (on internet or elsewhere), don't involve yourself in anything controversial and don't make an enemy of anyone in a position of influence.....and you should be left to enjoy your time in Egypt without being bothered by anyone.

If you're a foreigner here on a tourist visa, behave like an honoured guest.....because that is what you are.
