Frozen Chile Blueshell Mussels Arkwrites 75le per 500grams.

Now these are not Helford mussels or even Loch Eriboll, but at £3.20 or £6.40 for four people it's a dirt cheap starter.
Moules Marinière.
Diced Onion
Diced Garlic
Butter
Cream
Parsley
White wine
Freshly ground S & P.

It says on the pack cook from frozen but I prefer to defrost..
Sweat onions & garlic off, bung in les moules, S&P, & a slug of wine rattle around with lid on for 2 minutes, chuck in cream....
Sprinkle with 'ripped parsley or anything green....drink more wine... 8)
Nb: For the gourmet chef's amongst us one could then do a quick white wine reduction napping sauce.

I think the Jews and Muslims know a thing or 2 about not eating bottom feeders out of the ocean.

every time I have eaten muscles I have been violently ill, to the point where I would have given my all for a handgun and a round of ammunition.
The second time I ate them was in a top class restaurant in Lecce, and I was assured that these were fresh and properly cooked, and at 40 euros a serving, not exactly cheap either.
All my companions were fine. We flew back to Rome a couple of hours later.

I spent the night at the Shangri La Corsetti hotel on viale Algeria in Rome puking my guts up and explosive diarrhoea simultaneously ( which is supposed to be impossible) for the next 24 hours.. :sk
I had 2 flights to catch the next day, the worst travelling day of my life.. :td

I'm quite partial to muscles......cut into roasts, short ribs or steak (filet mignon, sirloin steak, rump steak, rib steak, rib eye steak, hanger steak, etc.). ;)

Never mind eating them, at 64 I would just like the return of a couple.
