I used to rent an old 16th C Dowager's House in Mote Park tastefully named 'Raigersfeld House.
A 2nd WW Officers billet they built a rather nice mess avec bar attached.
One Saturday morning I turned on't telly and there was the view from my lounge window, our miniature railway....
It was Swop-Shop a higly kept secret location.
Within 1 hour, hundreds of kids evaporated carrying their Mum's fur coats Dad's Lawnmowers and Grannies carriage clocks.
Wanting to swop them for anything, flick knives, balloons, money, a messful o' potage, a handful of magic beans.
I chatted with 'Cheggers and came away a happy 'antique dealer.....
