Why do they call them 'smart phones ?
When most people that use them seem complete idiots, especially in London.....

It's the phone that's smart, not the user. That being said, the sales guys would have you believe any idiot can operate them. I beg to differ (but then I'm not just 'any idiot!).

I have a new phone being couriered to me as I type. My plans for the weekend may have to go on hold whilst I try to set it up and come to terms with it.

Pss: I got a txt the other day 3 hours later I received a really rude txt saying why didn't I respond ?
I don't go around with a phone attached to my ear or for that matter don't really know or care where it maybe..

Even though I was expecting it, I was shocked by the current usage of smart phones by people out and about in London.

At times, I felt I was the only person alive without one to stare at whilst walking, riding the bus, shopping, eating...probably whilst going to the loo as well.

You get the impression that depriving the average Brit of their iphone would be like switching off their ventilator in intensive care.

I wonder if the real reason tourism has collapsed in Egypt is that "smart phones" can't cope with an "idiot wifi service"......and word's got out.

Great! So, shiny new [not so] Smartphone has arrived. Not so great! Box is sealed with a label stating European SIM Card Only. Not going to be a lot of good with my Egyptian and Moroccan sim cards then!

So ring provider who suggests I try one of my non-European sims in new phone. Erm... so you want me to break the seal of the box, put in a sim card that I know will not work in the UK.

I just love a free Friday afternoon hanging on the phone for ages, listening to endless grotty musak and then talking to robotic person who actually has no clue about the information you require. insult to injury 'In your free time, why don't you go to your nearest store and discuss it with them?' Errmm... because the latest bunch of spotty faced youths have no idea how to adapt their poor customer service to a woman such as myself who does not fit their profile of a prospective customer.

So, another hour out of my life and a customer service adviser who actually listened, understood and acted. Now, fingers crossed that all is well once I open the box and go for the set up. I just hope all my phone contacts transfer as I've been promised they will.

Mines blinged up, but the user is not very smart, he has not got a clue on what it does. Its got to the stage the owner rings Apple every other week to get it reset, due to people sending me S--t that I try to get rid of. Yes still suffering with Luxor bugs!!! I hate blocking people but I just get sick of all the sites that I have been recommended.

I have absolutely zilch sympathy for the idiots that have their phones snatched by kids on stolen scooters.
The kids are well aware and utilise this to their advantage.
Islington seems to be one of the hubs for this 'nefarious activity.
The Police gave up chasing them when one local idiot killed himself whilst trying to evade them.
Then the kids started taking off their helmets when being chased, forcing the Police to cease the chase.
It's bad enough trying to cross the streets without getting hit by cyclists,
let alone having one's nose stuck in a 'dumb phone..
