Now here's an interesting article from the 'Gruaniad by Geoffrey Kamadi.
Personally I'm not enthusiastic on Nile fish this side of the High Dam, but have seen some whoppers caught the
other side whilst sailing down to Abu Simbel.... 8)

"Ironically, Nile perch is an invasive species. It was introduced to Lake Victoria in 1950, and has been blamed for the disappearance of the native fish and interfering with the lake’s ecosystem".

Perhaps these fish will also be in lake Nasser if they migrate downstream, where they will receive some protection given the sensitivity of the high dam..

We used to fish for Nile Perch in lake Victoria in the early 1970's :up they could grow quite massive, we used large centre pin multiplyer reels intended for deep sea fishing that we bought in the UK and took back with us.
