It would be churlish to criticise the move....even if it does no more than replace those officers lost over the last decade.
Particularly interesting is the requirement that new recruits either possess a degree or are prepared to study for one. That should raise the level of literacy and, hopefully, intelligence amongst the custodians of our safety. I have reason to believe it was pretty grim in the past.

Gone are the days when the ability to say “evenin’ all”.....or “you’re nicked” ..would suffice. I look forward to being able to discuss the importance of Nietzsche in modern philosophy or the latest theories of interstellar gravity fluctuations when I’m next stopped for speeding.
In the constant struggle for supremacy between villains and the Law, maybe Who 2’s mates will have to consider night school in an effort to keep up.
