A new taxi company has opened here on the west bank, Marwa CC, all female set up.
I haven't used them yet but will give them a call when next I want a taxi. I wish them every success .
Here you go girls she learning 'cockney fast so get to it.
She is actually cleaning a new hotel today, in La Galta soon to open.
Built by Marina 'she of 'teddy bear fame from Khartoum.
She also supports her mum and 4 sisters, 'work work work will set you free. Who said that ?....

Who built the new Hotel in La Galta Doctor? More than one person was involved. The building started over 6 years ago and is in Gorf, not La Galta. Close to Alladins and Al Bairat Hotel.
You are correct MT, Geoff or La Galta down that way anyway.
The money came from Marina, she's never been daft....
Ps: I concede it was built by more than 1 person, I doubt if Marina even lifted a shovel.

Looks like a nice place. A rival for Al Moudira? Rooms $200-$300 a night.
Elegantly designed and independently owned by local architect and builder Mohamed Fawy and ex- teacher Dr Marina the hotel is under British management guaranteeing personal service of the highest quality.
Taking architectural influences from the Middle East and North Africa complemented by antiques from the 18TH and 19th centuries the hotel offers a timeless splendour.
Well looking at the photo's I am a little under whelmed. The rooms look very nice but no where near as nice as at El Moudira. Not even as nice as Yildez's suite at the Steigenburger.

You might be right....although I think Al Moudira is a little overrated.
Maybe it’s the “British management guaranteeing personal service of the highest quality” that will make all the difference
Your right Who, just tried to send them a message but the "contact us" link doesn't seem to be working. Doesn't exactly fill one with confidence does it.
I looked at the photographs too, and thought the rooms looked very ininspiring compared to the names of jewels given to them. The description of the place led me to expect rooms with a much more Arabesque feel to them.
It will be interesting to see what the finished product and reviews are like.

I think I would go for the Diamond Pearl Room - it seems to be particularly good value at only $11 per nt .........
I think you are all right, the hotel viewed from 'jeoff looks very arabesque and from my 'informants the
hotel is filled with arabic furnishings and antiques.
First time I clocked Marina's house, she had a huge outside 'water-wall, it wasn't functioning shame...

The hotel is very tall, and multi-domed, in Hassan Fathy style. It had hand-painted patterned decorations in the domes and on walls, last time we were there. If I knew how to load photos, I would. We have been friends with one of the security guardians from during the post-revolution years when building came to a halt, and have been through it more than once as building re-commenced and stopped and re-commenced over the years.
WI, providing you can check that your images are within the given size you can just Drag & Drop them into your post, the only thing is you MUST be in the 'Full Editor' mode to do so. This avoids you having to upload to any of the Albums first. If you have any sort of photo editing or photo viewing software then using the 'Save for Web' option will always result in an image being saved that will upload by this method. Just type your message and whilst in Full Editor mode just drag the image off your PC into the message box, but note you will see nothing until you press the 'preview' button and all images uploaded like that will be shown as a vertical strip below your post.

It would be interesting to hear your observations about Luxor once you return. Hope you'll come back and post again.
Do you also find that taxi drivers are some of the most interesting people you can meet? On a short drive for my last appt at the beauty salon before returning to Luxor, I got chatting to the driver,...
