Computer Problems

Yesterday decided to move my furniture (again) this meant I had to unplug the computer and all it's wires. Put it back together again and everything worked except the monitor. I got a message on the screen that the signal cable was faulty. Worked out that the signal cable must be the cable that runs between the monitor and the box of the computer. The cable had exactly the same ends, those that you have to screw in. Both the same colour ends. So bought a new cable.
Fixed that and then got a message saying there was a problem with the hardware to contact my supplier.
No idea what this meant but pressing various keys, switching on and off and a few choice words and the thing worked.
Only problem is now is the display. At the top of the screen there are 3 little boxes one to minimize one to increase and one to close the window, these seem to have disappeared. The icons on the task bar have also increased in size, the screen just doesn't look right.
Anyone any idea what I have to do to make it look like it did.

Absolutely not in any sense of the word nada, nienti, nee, não, = NO
But...but! there is a very clever guy at the bottom of TV St.
He fixed both of my mates computers and my mate ain't daft..'well he is really...

So, they can't fix 'real computers like our Macbook Pro's, but they do all the housewives choice of PC's...
Nice people, clever 2nd floor next to the bakers... 8)
Ps: 'Knock and ask for 'ginger!....

Sound like possibly your screen resolution is wrong? Possibly you can adjust this in your screen's settings menu if it has one, or through Windows Control Panel.

Usually a right mouse click on the desktop screen, then you should have a menu item like

Display Settings, or

Screen resolution,

Though do make sure there is not another port you could have plugged the cable into. Sometimes there is the onboard Graphics card port, BUT if someone has added another Graphics card, then that is the one that will take priority over the onboard Graphics card.

If I wanted to be tied to a laptop every where I went then I would get one. I don't however want to be like so many others in the airport lounge, cafe's or traveling anywhere, laptop out bent over it and missing all the interesting things going on around them.
