Imagine all those Bible Belt folks on their knees praying for Don & Mel,
as they cradle their automatic weapons & bibles..

Whatever the result I can see only one winner, they will probably make a film about all this one day.

Ps: Dom also evades looking more like the prat that he is in any more TV debates.

Well, I'm well into the chapters on CV19 and Trump in Woodwards 'Rage.
I nipped to the end written roundabout late June/July.

I'll be honest, I know little about politics, and even less about American politics. Trump has not done anything to enlighten me.

If, as has been alleged many times, there are official Melania Trump doubles, I wonder which Melania has tested positive for Covid-19. Presumably they will both/all have to quarantine anyway whether they have been close to Trump in the last couple of weeks or not.

According to the polls, which have been remarkably consistent throughout his presidency, the American people disagree with you.His approval rating has rarely climbed over 45%.....and it would probably be much less but for the apparently immovable support of his acolytes.

Not that that will necessarily count under their bizarre electoral system. Where Trump gains is in the near messianic support of his Republican base. He could rape a woman in broad daylight, in front of cameras, on Wall Street....and they’d still give him the benefit of the doubt.

Despite his obvious unpopularity it will be touch and go come November 3rd.

He has denounced whites supremacists on many occasions.

Bullying, I don't think so, he's just being strong in which he gets the job done.

But I respect everyone's view, some like him some don't, its great we all have different views else the world would be boring.

Look at CNN vs Fox news, you would think there was 2 different Trumps.

Not really. I caught a bit of the debate the other night, but from what I saw and heard, I couldn't tell if Biden could string a sentence together or not as he was being shouted down all the time by Trump.

Writing the above and PRChick popped into my mind. It would have been interesting to have heard her thoughts and opinions on the presidency and America in general over the last few years.

Biden does sometimes stumble over his words....which I’d put down to old age. Generally speaking he’s an effective orator. Trump’s speaking mode is abysmal and shows a basic lack of competence in the English language. Neither of them show up well against Obama...but it’s not a critical fault. Actions speak louder than words.

Trump fares badly when his remarks are fact-checked. Whether you’d call this lying or “ being economical with the truth” depends, I suppose, on whether you’re a supporter incredibly, Trump’s ability to distort the truth doesn’t seem to bother his supporters. Whilst all politicians can be guilty of lying, I don’t think anyone - in the West- has got it down to the fine art displayed by Trump.

He has, as Keefy points out, condemned white supremacists on several occasions. Any impression to the contrary is probably a result of his mangled English . It’s easy for his opponents to characterise what he says quite differently. His apparent lack of empathy with the undeniable injustices suffered by blacks and other ethnic minorities doesn’t help.

His crude use of personal verbal attacks against opponents, their families, women etc could be described as bullying. It’s unedifying to witness it from the leader of the free world. He certainly doesn’t tolerate disagreements...as his numerous appointees - subsequently dismissed - can testify! You could describe this as “strength”.....but it worries me that he simply doesn’t have the intellect, science or political experience to overrule those better qualified to advise.

Whether his mysterious tax affairs, dubious business dealings and numerous alleged infidelities have any substance is a matter for speculation and, again, wouldn’t necessarily rule him out from being an effective president.

Whether it makes him a likeable person is another matter....and this is what usually determines elections in Western democracies.
