White stuff falling from the sky.
Having not been in the UK at this time of the year, white stuff is falling from the sky.
Any ideas ? cheers......

1) A bad case of dandruff coupled with a need to visit barber? Bit of a problem, what with lockdown.

2) The ultimate fantasy of a coke-head?

3) Possibly a prelude to your ceiling collapsing? Ancient distemper preceding the plaster & lath.

The falling white stuff is a common problem across much of the UK today, certain the more southern parts which are seldom plagued by this issue.

I was comfortably snuggled under my duvet, in that half awake/half asleep state, when I heard an almighty bang. It was a noise that continuously rumbled on for what seemed quite a while, with a few crescendo's, but it wasn't clear quite what it was. It wasn't very close, but it was still loud enough to be disturbing. This was 6:35 am. All fell silent for ten or fifteen minutes then there was a loud smattering of sleet or hail striking the windows and roof. Less than an hour later we had snow falling heavily and settling. It continued on and off for a couple of hours.

I'm not very fond of snow. I believe it should only fall on mountains and fields. However, I am happy to look at the virgin white of it all - from the comfort of my chair in my centrally heated room. Our drive way has thawed, so I assume that the local roads are safe to travel, but I'm happy that I don't have to go out in it.

Having looked at a couple of online local groups, it would seem that many were woken and scared by the loud noise this morning. Equally many feared it was an explosion, but others were able to assure that that it had been thunder with some incredible lightening flashes too. It seems to have been much further south than I am so it really must have been nerve wracking at the time.

Needless to say, far too many people were out and about at local beauty spots, making snowmen and trying to sledge down the slopes. I doubt there was enough snow to effectively do either. There was enough however to increase the risk of accident and potentially needing to use the emergency services. I really hope that A&E haven't been flooded with avoidable accidents.

Having looked at various weather forecasts, it's not clear if there is more snow due to fall here. I suppose I don't have to worry about it too much as I have no plans or intention of going anywhere than work tomorrow - a walking commute along an internal corridor.

Just received a video from a friend in Derby, snow there, it looks beautiful all white and pristine, quite thick too.
Cold here at night but during the day lovely. Come to sunny Luxor.
