The “some” don’t know much about ancient Egyptian civilisation if they think contact with the West led to their decline.John Landon wrote: Fri Oct 01, 2021 11:27 am
I remember a very cever line I read in an old book about Egyptology.
It is apparent to some, that the ancient Egyptian civilisation went into rapid decline after contact with the west.
Your quote here John reminds me of a friend of my grandfathers who went off to work in the then country of Rhodesia in the mid 70's, but because of white rule, he was kicked out and returned to Egypt, but after independence around 1980, he was welcomed back with opened arms.John Landon wrote: Sat Oct 02, 2021 9:38 am That the understanding of how the ancients lived, and that they clearly had a more advanced civilisation than we are led to believe.
That is the decline.
Wether this was deliberate or was a lack of understanding is up for debate. It seems that academia is not prepared to question itself or take a fresh look, so maintaing the status quo is the easiest option.

Today for those who know and are interested can SEE the real truth for themselves, without fear of ridicule that my grandfathers friend went though. This taught me to keep an open mind on anything of interest.
How the art of conversation, discussion and debate, for people of an open mind can so clearly be seen these days are gone, that were once a joy of this forum, so many wonderful people contributed, though still look in, though never comment,..........I wonder why ?
