This interesting article caught my eye….although the ancient- origins site is renowned for pseudo- science and highly dubious research.

I very much doubt that Tutankhamun would have any need for birth control, and the sight of a linen condom might well have seen Ankhesenamun pleading a headache

A lump of strategically placed crocodile poo sounds much more effective.

Perhaps there weren't as many pharmacies in Luxor in those days? And I don't mean to buy condoms. (I'm not daft!) But I'm sure that Vaseline would have been a better lubricant than olive oil, for the linen.

It looks more like a “posing pouch” to me.

Somewhere to keep the family jewels?
