I came across a little book of Cat Haiku by Deborah Coates. I'm sure you cat lovers will recognise the characters she has described.
SOCIALIZING
You may call it 'a
Lot of yowling'. I call it
Singing to my friends.
~
You are my best friend,
Person Allergic to Cats.
Let me shed on you.
~
Visitors come. They
Coo over me. Ignoring
Them, I wash my rump.
~
There will be canine
Parts missin if that dog gets
Anywhere near me.
~
You want to cuddle;
I don't. No offence meant, but
Right now you bore me.

HOME DECORATING
Au contraire; I think
The couch looks better with a
Few shredded cushions
I can't help it if
The curtain rod is not strong
Enough to hold me.
I know you're mad
Just think: it takes planning to
Knock over a chair!
Voila: grey paw prints
On the countertops. What an
Artistic statement!
Lamps are convenient
For trapping moths, but they
do
Tip over a lot.

Reminds me of my son's comment when I was cursing the cat for going in & out in the rain & walking all over the window sill with muddy paws. "He's only going out to refill his paint brush"
More excellent quotes Hepzi

Awe, how cute - the problem also happens when you are really painting and you have a big grey cat with a fluffy tail.

H[face=Comic Sans MS]ere is some more cat Haiku for you.[/face]
KEEPING FIT
I am a strong and
Adventurous cat. So I
Can't climb down. Big deal.
I leap for a bird
And miss. I pretend I was
Stretching to fool you.
You don't get it: a
Scratching post is too easy.
Now, a chair leg - ah!

Yes, furniture was definitely my last cats second favourite form of exercise. Carpets were her first

Gizmo has become her mentor, she follows him everywhere. He even washes her - something that she doesn't seem to have time to do. They're both asleep together on the sofa as I type. They do have scraps, she cries when he belts her, then goes back for more.
Phantom, no way, she leaves the room when Cleopatra enters or hisses at her.

A tree to climb, light
Cords to bite, presents to prowl,
I
love Christmastime.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New Year's Eve is nice
If you're crazy. Me, I stay
Under the sofa.
to stop cats scratching the furniture use a water pistol. I trained my cats with one and they do not scratch anything they're not supposed to except for Annadongela.
Phantom, I too used to have a big fluffy grey cat who used his tail as a paint brush, I guess they must be all the same
