“Lady of Arab Cinema” Faten Hamama passed away on Saturday aged 83. The film above (with English subtitles) is known as one of Faten Hamama and Omar Sharif’s best films together. Nahr Hob (Love River) is based on Leo Tolstoy’s novel Anna Karenina.

This movie - in my opinion - is by far the best movie in the history of the Egyptian cinema industry. which was at a time the third contributor to Egypt;s GDP.

Re: Faten Hamama
This is true, my friend was watching one of her old B&W Egyptian movies the other day, this lady was in it. I just passed my usual comment when seeing these very old films that all taking part would probably be dead by now. ''No, she said, this lady is still alive and was one of Egypt's best actress.'' Next day she died. Today I will probably be blamed for causing her demise.
